Alone

in the end
among the family and the friends
I chart my course alone

navigating the best I can
learning not to cringe from judgment
but willing to accept my actions will not be accepted by all

there may be a few who sail this life with me
but even those drift in and out of the currents
from me, near me, caught on the shore

being true to the voice inside
is the most important lesson I have learned
to accept and embrace that life is lived alone
